The Northern Attack(Part One)

January 10th, 2010

If finding the SRCRM was hard, finding the Northern Resource Center for Removal Mol would be impossible, thought Thripo as he was flying. Florida was becoming normal just as he crossed the border. Tripo had been in contact with Lutengurg Government. They had said that NRCRM was in a country called India. In a place called Bombay. But where was India?  He decided to take a thing what humans called aircrafts. But nobody would be flying. But then Tripo remembered how he came into Earth. Flycat. That was how he came into Earth. It was back in Florida! He went back to Florida. But Tripo was in his arctic owl form and as soon as soon as he was hit into the Floridian border, he turned back into his Lutengurg form. Florida was back to normal all right.

When Thripo found his Flycat, he found that the Lutengurg Government had updated it. It now had a GPS. He typed in India , Bombay and it automatically flew there. But the Moloceans had told everyone on their side to catch Tripo. “My Ship”! Screamed Thripo. The Moloceans had started to shoot. “You may have better ships than me, but I have more skill than all of you combined!” said Thripo. The electric cannons fired from the back.”NO!” screamed Moloceans. All of the ships broke. “You have reached your desired destination”, said GPS.

India can be full of climates, but it’s usually hot. But this time, the eastern side of India was 200 degrees and the western side was -200 degrees. How all the people were surviving Thripo didn’t know. “Thripo, Come in,” said a voice on his unicom. It was General Wambosabi, the Lutengurg leader. “Thripo, are you there?” asked Wambosabi. “Yes sir,” answered Thripo. “Your unicom can now turn into a cannon gun and a laser gun”. “What?!” asked Tripo. No answer. Thripo looked at his communication device. There was a button that wasn’t there before. It read ”GUN”. ”Curiosity will kill the Lutengurg agent” muttered Thripo as he pressed the button. A huge flash of light erupted from the unicom. “What gun would you like?” asked a silky, metallic voice. ” Laser” answered Thripo “Laser gun activated. Would you like GPS to be activated?” ”Yes” said Thripo. “Take me to NRCRM” BOOM! The place Thripo was in now was a whole diffrent place

The Southeren Attack

January 9th, 2010

There was a person. He loved to eat insects.  This person came from a diffrent planet, and was sent to protect earth. The planet he came from was called Lutengurg. Leturngurg was a helper of the earth and earth needed help. Earth had suddenly been attacked by the Venusians. Venus used to have water. When the water was gone, the entire race of Molocean beings(People who live on Venus) had gone into hiding. But now that earth was a beautiful place,Moloceans had satarted to destroy and then take Earth’s natural resources. So this guy who was sent from Lutengurg had to stop the Moloceans. This guy.. his name was Thripo. Thripo ate insects because he had to harness the power of insects. He could sting somebody like a bee, jump like a grasshopper, fly like a butterfly and much, much more.

Thripo had heard that Florida  was very warm during summer. But it was -51 degrees right now. Why? The Moloceans had taken the entire Floridian resources. Only one way to get it back. He had to get to the southern resouce center for removal Mol(SRCRM) destroyed. He decided to turn into a dragonfly. Just as he was harnessing the power, a huge chunk of ice fell on his head, and the entire antartic and artic animal dna samples fell into him. So instead of turning into a dragonfly, he turned into a artic owl! Thripo had never flown so fast and felt so powerful! Then he saw it. The SRCRM was above the horizon.

Thripo was back into his Lutengurg form(That looked very much like a human) and was trying to find the the control room. There it was! Thripo turned into a polar bear and started to destroy the sourse heda, the thing that was powered the machine. Only a minute was left… “Hey you, get out!” Two soldiers had come from nowhere! Thripo headbutted the soldiers! He went back. 5,4,3,2, BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!! The machine blew up! In the end,  he turned into a ant and bit the wires. The wires were very weak. The Southern attack finished. Thripo flew out. He was headed for the north. He would find the find the the NRCRM…  someday.

Happy New Year!!!

January 1st, 2010

Wish All Of You A Happy New Year!

But why happy new year? After all what has changed - from writing 2009 we have moved to writing 2010. Just 2 digits. Digits change every month 01 (January) becomes 02 (February). So we should wish each other a “Happy New Month”. And why month, the days also have a digit change 01 will become 02 tomorrow. So we should wish “Happy New Day”. Oh God! Nobody has the time to wish each other a “Happy New Day” everyday; but is it necessary that a day/month/year will become “Happy” only if someone else wishes it. Why don’t we wish ourselves a “Happy New Day” everyday? Every year brings with it hope, joy & sorrow. But if we look at it, so does everyday. Appa keeps saying “if you solve the small problems in time, the big problems will take care of themselves”. So if we keep ourselves happy everyday, we don’t need to wish each other “A Happy New Year” once a year. I am going to try this on myself & see if it works.

R V Rajan interview in Times of India

R V RAJAN, A SEASONED ENTREPRENEUR AND AN ADVERTISING WHIZ, WAS RECENTLY AWARDED THE RURAL MARKETING ASSOCIATION OF INDIA (RMAI) LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. JUSTIN RAJ TALKS TO HIM AS HE RELEASES HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY…

How do you feel about the rural marketing scenario in today’s world?
Though many corporates have started to pay more attention to rural marketing, there are still many myths about rural marketing among the marketers that need to be dispelled. Considering most of India lives in villages, an effective rural marketing strategy is the need of the hour.
Tell us about your contribution to this field?
I have been in this field for more than 42 years. I have served both in voluntary and professional organisations over the years. I have done my best to promote the cause of rural marketing. I consider establishing RMAI as the most significant achievement in my life.
What were your activities in Chennai?
I moved to Chennai in 1974. I founded my own agency, Anugrah Marketing in 1986, which later became Anugrah
Madison, Madison Group’s rural division. Over the years, I gradually entered the rural communication arena by contributing to several agriculture-based clients such as Shaw Wallace, EID Parry, BASF and the MRF Farm Tyre Division. I was the founder-president for four years of the RMAI which was set up in 2005.
What was your motivation behind writing your autobiography?
I started writing it as a fun activity but after I retired as CMD of Anugrah Madison, the book got a focus when I listened to a speech by S Muthiah, a well-known journalist in Chennai at a Madras Book Club meeting where he urged the audience to write their life stories.
What do you feel about receiving this Lifetime Achievement award?
I feel so happy that my services have been recognised. It has motivated me to contribute continually and on a more sustained basis towards the rural marketing sector.

God & Godliness

December 20th, 2009

I don’t think making a comment on your own stuff is the done thing, so here’s a new posting. In the North of India they have a saying “Na Mano to Patthar Hai, Mano to Bhagwan” (If you don’t believe its just a stone, if you do its God) & this is true not just of the Hindu religion. Christ was born of the Virgin Mary, walked on water & turned water to wine…Unfortunately religion has been taken over by charlatans who for their greed tarnish the name of God. God has been reduced to a Guru of Magicians. But why blame others. Even we do the same. We the Brahmins of India who have been entrusted with keeping the faith alive also decieve others, knowingly or unknowingly. I was surprised to hear that the Aarti which is done to God (they show the fire to God, move the flame up & down…also sideways) is actually drishti sutti podardu of God & we are not supposed to touch the flame, but the priest actually shoves the tattu in front of us encouraging us to touch the flame with our hands & then touch our eyes with those hands. But the real motive is that we (the people who come to pray) have a medium to contribute our offerings to the priest. I really don’t know if its true, but if it is it shows us in really bad light. We consider Tirupati to be the ultimate Vaikuntam on Earth, but its surprising how many people shove 50 & 100 rupee notes into the hands of the archakar/the guy pushing us out saying “Jaragandi, Jaragandi” just for that few seconds extra with God. I am sure God does not take those extra few seconds into account while counting our good deeds (in fact he may well put our visit like that in the bad deeds). I am reminded of an instance wherein a few friends & I went to a place of worship headed by a man supposedly very close to God (I won’t name the person or the place so that it does not hurt sentiments). Of our trio the first two i.e. a friend & me did not put any offerings & did not recieve anything but his blessings, while the third guy put a large denomination rupee note in his tattu & in turn was blessed & given an apple. This led to a comment ”He is not a man close to God, but a vendor of apples”. While this may have been said in fun, it was not at all funny. We, all of us (including & leading the list Myself) have reduced God to a source of income for a few. A lot of our prayers go “please God, let me pass this time/win a lottery/whatever & I will give so much/do this thing” reducing him to a vendor (others may have other words, but that’s not the issue). We should attempt to put God in the high pedestal he deserves & not reduce him to a common Indian policeman.

Science + Religion = Hindu Culture

December 18th, 2009

I know there’d be people reading this blog without a flair for science, so I will try to keep it as simple as possible.

Imagine we are able to go back in time & some X (surely not me) meets his great grandfather. They have a fight & in the process X kills his great grandfather. Now this creates a paradoxical situation. If there is no great grandfather of X how can X exist?

A similar logic was applied in a newspaper article about the Large Hadron Collider(LHC), Higgs particle (also called the God particle) & how and why the LHC is not functioning well. In layman terms the LHC is the biggest machine in the world & its job is to recreate the Big Bang (I doubt if anyone can properly define it. The closest I have been able to get is “At first there was nothing, & then it exploded”) & hence the formation of the universe. What is being done is deep within the ground atomic particles are made to move very fast & energetically and smashed against each other. This will create a situation akin to the formation of the universe & hence man will be able to understand matter. Some scientists say that the God particle is very intelligent & hence prevents its formation by not letting the LHC work properly. This prevents a situation like X killing his great grandfather.

But this goes against our scientific temperament which says things are linear. First the causes come & then only the effect. So moving back in time should not be possible.

Last weekend I went to some temples in South India. In one of them (I think it was Tirupullanai) Dasharat (Ram’s Dad) was supposed to have prayed to beget a son (he must have prayed superbly well, considering he got four). This shows when the temple was built Ram did not exist. But, there is an idol of Krishna present. Now, those who know even a bit about our mythology know that Krishna was a later addition to the Dasavataram compared to Ram. But surprise, Krishna was present in the temple when Ram was not even born.

This is the point I am trying to put forward. Indian culture & mythology accounts for the vagaries of the sub-atomic non-linear world. Our Gods understood the fourth dimension (time) much before mankind had even understood the three dimensions. We should be proud to be inheritors of such a scientific & open-minded system.

I hope to write more about the Dasavatharams soon, but just for explanation - the idol of Krishna in this temple is depicted as having a Shangu-Chakram, whereas he is usually depicted as having a flute in his hand.

Losing My Religion

December 17th, 2009

I was in the bus when I overheard a discussion. One guy was saying “Hinduism is a philosophy”. Basically he wanted to convey (at least I think) that Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life. That got me thinking, what do we mean by religion & what do we mean by philosophy? I really don’t buy Dan Brown’s argument in the “The Last Symbol” that religion has to follow ABC -> Assure, Believe, Convert. For me a religion is a set path by which a follower on following the path reaches a desired end. By this reasoning Hinduism is NOT a religion. In Hindusim we are allowed to choose our own paths. Some may be easy, others not so easy. Some may be well established, others not. In fact, even the end is not perfectly defined. The concept of Heaven & Hell  are not well defined in Hinduism. If we realize & relate to what is said often, the desired end is “The Ultimate Truth”. Sadly, the ultimate truth cannot be expalined in word, its got to be experienced. In Hinduism we don’t reach a palace with wall to wall Persian carpet & huge chauffered limousines. How do I explain?? Okay, can we define love? We can express love, we may hug & kiss, we may cry tears of joy, but this is not love per se (Management people love this word ‘Per Se’). It has to be experienced. Similarly ‘The Ultimate Truth’ has to be experienced & cannot be explained. So how do we reach it? Use your own way! I will speak about Buddhism in my later blogs, but just to give a trailer - Buddha was not the first one to reach ‘The Ultimate Truth’, but what makes him unique & puts him in our pantheon is He was the first person who actually returned from the state of having achieved the ultimate truth to come back to common men & preach his path, which is called the Eight Fold Path. Unfortunately, while this Eight Fold Path gives the direction, its very poor in specifics. The sum & substance of this rambling is “Hinduism is a mix of religion & philosophy. The end is given, but the path is not”.  Depending on the number of hate comments I get for this blog, I will speak further about Hinduism.
